With summer upon us, many begin to shake in their boots about bathing suit season. Thinking about being out by the pool at a party, on vacation or even wearing shorts and summer dresses baring arms and legs. Well if this is you, you are not alone. What can we do about getting comfortable wearing less in the summer? Time to tone up and shape up! Results vary, just as commitment to fitness and eating healthy varies. Why do we wait till this time of the year to even consider hitting the gym or even putting on some running/jogging shoes? Well its pointless to even ask, the main thing here is what are we going to do from this point on?
Thinking about working out, sweating, and clean eating makes some groan in agony, but it doesn't have to be that way. Start with baby steps! take a walk in your neighborhood, get out there, put your iPad down! Turn your tv off! Get your SWEAT ON!! Power walk for 5 minutes, jog for 1 minute, sprint for 20 seconds, repeat. Mix it up! Jog to the end of one street corner, do 10-20 jumping jacks, continue, then do 10-20 squats. Get your heart rate up, get your sweat on. You can't walk in your neighborhood? Hit a local park, they are sure to have trails or maybe head to a loal school and use their track. There are no good reasons why you can't get out and burn calories.
Stop complaining about summer and bathing suits and being unfit and unhealthy and do something! Put that doughnut down, yes you, and put your comfy sneakers on. Focus, eyes on the prize. Think about all you put in your mouth and make wise choices. Remember you are in control of your actions!!
If we can make time for other things, work, checking emails, watching sports/TV we can make time to get fit. Walk with your family after dinner, do squats/lunges during commercials while watching the Spurs/or your favorite tv show. We all have distractions or reasons why we can't succeed. Don't allow these distractions to stand in the way of the new you!!!
