I recently blogged about getting fit now, and looking forward to bikini season. Well, not everyone cares about looking good in a bikini or even the fact that summer brings shorts and sleeveless shirts. In fact, after chatting with my almost 70 year old mother in law (whom looks nothing close to "almost 70"), she gave me a different perspective of why she stays fit. Alice, my other mother, keeps fit by working in her garden, squatting for periods of time, sweating, pulling out them weeds, and planting. If she works in the garden for a good amount of time she really feels it. She also keeps herself fit in her home gym. She's no regular grandma or as her grand kids call her "Nanny". She sees working out as key to enjoying the quality of life! Being fit adds to the joy of being able to do the things she loves, like gardening, playing and running around with her grand kids. As we age, it gets tougher for us to do what we use to, and if we don't work our muscles and work out, we will loose in the long run. I've always heard, use it or loose it! Thank you Nanny for your perspective and input. You are an inspiration to me and to everyone who crosses your path. I love you!
