Staying Thankful This Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and holiday cheer is beginning to spread. It’s a great time of year. Planning a Thanksgiving feast for a large family, though, can definitely be distracting. Between deciding who will host the festivities this year, grocery shopping, and meal preparation, it’s easy for the real reason for Thanksgiving to get lost, or at least momentarily forgotten. Here are some great ways for you and your family to stay connected this Thanksgiving and remember to be thankful for all of your blessings.
  1. Volunteer together! There are so many volunteer opportunities during this time of year. It’s a great way to help those in need and a wonderful teaching tool for little ones.
  2. Don’t forget to pray. When you’re cooking all day, the first thing you want to do once you’re done is dig in. Wait five more minutes and say a prayer with your family. It can be a much needed grounding and centering moment for all, and it’s important that your children learn to pray by watching you.
  3. Stay in after food. Black Friday sales are tough to beat, but it’s more important to spend as much time with your loved ones simply enjoying their company as you can. Don’t get in line at stores on Thursday night. Enjoy the evening by reflecting on all the blessings you already have.
This Thanksgiving, keep the spirit of the holiday in your heart and don’t lose sight of its true meaning. Remember, happy people aren’t thankful – thankful people are happy.

Thanksgiving is a day of giving thanks. It is a day where people give each other thanks for all of the things that they are grateful for. I find that Thanksgiving day is one of the most "looked forward to" days of the year because people are nice to each other. It is nice to see people who have nothing but positive wishes for each other. Sometimes, I wish everyday was Thanksgiving day because I feel like people are much better version of themselves when it is Thanksgiving day.
